About Canberra Philharmonic Society

Since 1951, Canberra Philharmonic Society has been delighting Canberra audiences with top quality musical theatre. The enthusiasm, talent and energy of our members has resulted in a society with a wide reputation for high standard productions.

We are a community non-profit organisation. Our core objectives are:

  • To present high quality musical theatre productions
  • To foster and extend the love of music and to encourage the study and appreciation of all forms of musical expression

All of our productions are semi-professional in nature, combining the talents of Canberra’s amateur performers and musicians with the skills and experience of professional directors, musical directors and choreographers.

Canberra Philharmonic Society stage two shows each year at Erindale Theatre.

Our members contribute to all aspects of our productions, in both on-stage and off-stage roles. This includes acting, dancing, singing, costume design, set design and build, selling tickets, ushering patrons and more.

Formatting How-To

Bold & Italics

You can make text italics or make text bold by surrounding it with underscores or double asterisks.

    _italicized text_
    **bold text**

Lists + Paragraphs

Create a bullet list by simply beginning each line with a hyphen (aka "dash") and a space. Numbered lists are similar: begin each line with a digit, dot (aka "period"), and space. Here they are working in tandem with paragraphs:

I've been doing musical theatre for a long time. Here's some of my favorite roles:

    - "Laurie" in _Little Women_, 2015
    - "Chad" in _High School Musical_, 2010
    - "Jimmy" in _Thoroughly Modern Millie_, 2007

Notice that sweet empty line after my list, and also after each paragraph? They are important, as you will see in a moment.

    1. I will eat all your green M&M's.
    2. I never practice at home.
    3. Kissing scenes are the best.

Leave an Empty Line

After every paragraph or list (but not after each individual item in a list), press Enter twice. This double line break starts a new paragraph or list.

The text you want to be clickable (like this) is wrapped in square brackets, while the full web address, including the http:// is wrapped in parentheses. There is no space between the closing square bracket and the opening parenthesis, like so:
