About This Production

In the not-so-distant future, a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought has led to a government ban on private toilets and a proliferation of paid public toilets, owned and operated by a single megalomaniac company: the Urine Good Company. If the poor don’t obey the strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious “Urinetown.” After too long under the heel of the malevolent Caldwell B. Cladwell, the poor stage a revolt, led by a brave young hero, fighting tooth and nail for the freedom to pee “wherever you like, whenever you like, for as long as you like, and with whomever you like.” A brilliant satire modeled off the plays of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, Urinetown is a wickedly funny, fast-paced, and surprisingly intelligent comedic romp.

Auditions For Urinetown

About Auditions

Audition Information

Adult auditions are by appointment only and will be approximately 10 minutes in duration. Please prepare one (1) audition song, and should be either a traditional music theatre, character driven song or a song preferably from the vocal range required for the role you may be auditioning for. Our strongest advice is to pick a song that best represents the character range you are auditioning for and one that you are comfortable with. One that shows off the quality of your voice, shows that you can connect with the lyric content and a song that you can sing well. Our advice for those wanting to audition for ensemble is to not bite off more than you can chew. We need vocalists of all styles and ranges and whilst it is true we do require many high ranged vocalists, it is by far not the only requirement.

If you are auditioning for a lead role, please prepare 1 minute of vocals (in addition to your song choice) . Bobby Strong : Run Freedom Run Hope Cladwell: Follow Your Heart Officer Lockstock: Cop Song Little Sally: Tell her I love her Cladwell: Don’t be the bunny.

You may only be required to sing part of your song. We want to chat to you, get to know you and also run scales for a range test… YES RANGE TEST! So, you might not need to push for that crazy high note in your song choice. Be as efficient as possible for us and choose a great starting point that displays what you want to show us in the most economical way.

You need to bring along with you… your sheet music, or mobile phone (please note CSG will not supply additional connect for Jack to Iphone). If page turns are required, it is best to place the sheet music in a plastic sleeve folder or display book and it must be in the correct key. Backing tracks with vocals will not be accepted. If you need advice where to find sheet music, please contact the CentreStage page or
